The Cross of Lorraine
The Cross of Lorraine is associated with many people and places around the world but mainly with the Alsace region of Western France also Joan of Arc and Charles de Gaulle.
Lorraine was born on 14th July, which is Bastille day. She was delivered by a French midwife who suggested that she be named Lorraine, which of course she was.
We travelled to France on a number of occasions on Lorraine's birthday and it was on one of those visits that we were told about the cross, so for my birthday that year Lorraine had one made for me which I wear all the time.
